Privacy policy
Last updated: 6 November 2026
Eatwhr ("the app") is a free guide to Taiwan's night markets, made by Taiwan Builds, an independent developer. This policy explains what information the app uses and why. The short version: you can use the guide without an account, we don't sell your data, and the app never handles payments.
Information stored only on your phone
- Your language choice (English or Japanese).
- The night market you're browsing and the stalls you save to "My list".
- A copy of the stall guide, so the app works with weak signal.
This stays on your device. Deleting the app deletes it.
Information we collect
- Notifications (optional). If you allow notifications, we store a device token, your app language and the market you last viewed, so we can send you reminders before a market opens and occasional night market news. No name or email is attached. You can turn this off in your iPhone settings at any time.
- Usage and advertising measurement. We use the Meta (Facebook) SDK to understand whether our ads bring people to the app, for example that the app was installed or opened, or that a stall or order card was viewed. The app does not ask for tracking permission and does not use your advertising identifier (IDFA); Meta receives these app events with an app-generated ID, not your name, email, phone number or IDFA, and we do not use them to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- Things you send us. If you report a mistake or send a menu photo, we store what you send so we can update the guide for everyone.
There are no accounts: we never ask for your name, email or phone number. We do not collect your location, contacts or payment details.
Services we use
- Supabase: stores the stall guide, notification tokens, reports and menu photos (servers in Singapore).
- Expo: delivers app updates and push notifications.
- Apple: the App Store and push notifications.
- Meta: advertising measurement, as described above.
- Cloudflare and Google (Gmail): host this website and deliver emails you send to our support address.
- Google Maps: when you tap a directions button, Google Maps opens and Google's own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep it
Data on your phone is deleted when you delete the app. Notification tokens are removed when notifications stop working for that device. Reports and menu photos are kept while they help keep the guide accurate. To ask us to delete anything you sent, email us (see below) and we will do it within 30 days.
Children
The app is not aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
